Overview
This is the non-college credit version of the module. It is each participant's responsibility to contact professional development system and licensing personnel to confirm how Aim4Excellence assists with meeting established state criteria. When enrolling and accessing module training materials, carefully select either the 'non-college credit' or 'Aim4Excellence modules for college credit' based on these determined professional development needs. 

For most early childhood leaders, attracting and retaining qualified staff is the most challenging aspect of administering an early childhood program. This module will help provide the tools to help you find, support, and retain the staff you need.

Objective

After completing Recruiting, Selecting, and Orienting Staff, you will be able to:

  • Recognize issues related to employee recruitment in the field of early care and education
  • Develop and implement a model of continuous recruitment
  • Review strategies to empower staff by involving them in the hiring process
  • Examine strategies when screening, interviewing, and selecting candidates
  • Apply fit criteria when selecting the best applicant
  • Design and recommend a phased orientation of new employees
