This is the non-college credit version of the module. It is each participant's responsibility to contact professional development system and licensing personnel to confirm how Aim4Excellence assists with meeting established state criteria. When enrolling and accessing module training materials, carefully select either the 'non-college credit' or 'Aim4Excellence modules for college credit' based on these determined professional development needs. 

In this module, you will discover all the ways you provide leadership to advance children’s development and learning, including the processes needed to strengthen professional competencies for teaching and caregiving. Throughout the module you will explore research-based approaches to ensure an effective, high-quality program. These highlight your role as a pedagogical leader – the go-to-person in your program to advance teaching and learning.

Objective

After completing Supporting Children’s Development and Learning, you will be able to:

  • Explain pedagogical leadership and its relationship to your program’s goals
  • Identify elements of high-quality early childhood teaching
  • Describe integration of child development with learning
  • Evaluate elements of observation, documentation, screening, and assessment
  • Implement social-emotional learning and understand its impacts
  • Provide oversight, feedback, and training to strengthen teacher competencies
