Overview
This is the non-college credit version of the module. It is each participant's responsibility to contact professional development system and licensing personnel to confirm how Aim4Excellence assists with meeting established state criteria. When enrolling and accessing module training materials, carefully select either the 'non-college credit' or 'Aim4Excellence modules for college credit' based on these determined professional development needs. 

Program evaluation plays an important role in the administration of high‐quality early care and education programs. This module provides a framework for understanding and implementing effective evaluation practices. You’ll learn how to select appropriate evaluation tools to achieve your program goals. You’ll learn how to implement continuous quality improvement, the leadership practice of assessing program needs, defining desired outcomes, developing an action plan, and evaluating outcomes. Rather than being threatening, you will discover how evaluation can help you celebrate program strengths, increase staff collaboration, and improve your program’s quality.

  • Describe program evaluation purposes, types, and ethical responsibilities
  • Select appropriate program evaluation tools
  • Utilize evaluation tools to assess program needs and support continuous quality improvement (CQI)
  • Identify desired outcomes for program improvement
  • Plan program improvement strategically through cycles of inquiry
  • Establish norms of continuous quality improvement (CQI) by engaging families and staff in collaborative program evaluation
